The practice of evangelical Christianity involves a one sided "shut up and learn from me" approach to understanding. It is a supposedly one way learning experience. One person knows all and instructs, the other is allowed only to accept unquestioningly or else. One speaks the absolute literal truth, and whatever the other might have to offer is irrelevant at best.
Under this paradigm all else of life experiences and its lessons are subordinate to the evangelical's message. Nothing of those experiences can be allowed to challenge the truth of evangelism. What is proclaimed as true in evangelism must be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. There is no room for anything else, any other truths or any other routes to the truth.
