There is no thankfulness separate from forgiveness and humility. Thankfulness is only possible from one who has been forgiven and recognizes the need to be reciprocally forgiving. Thankfulness never arises from a feeling of superiority, "exceptionalism", or greatness. Thanksgiving knows no demand for separation or segregation from others because a thankful heart embraces the unity and brotherhood of all mankind. All have sinned. All are in need of divine love. All are equal in the sight of God. A person who truly embraces the meaning of Thanksgiving Day does so within the context of Jesus' greatest commandment. We are to love and forgive like a fearless God, not to self promote like fearful men.
